GB Athlete Lucy Turner visited our school and helped us raise so much money!
On Friday 22nd May we had a special visitor, GB Heptathlon Athlete Lucy Turner – who helped our school raise money towards improving our sporting equipment. Our community raised an incredible £2,375.20 in total! Thanks to every single person who took the time to sponsor our children. We are now receiving £1,290.12 in vouchers from Great Athletes to spend on sports equipment.
Our pupils at Harry Hotspur Primary were thrilled to be training with a professional athlete, who was brilliant with the children and made exercising fun. Lucy ran circuits of 4 different exercises with the entire school, separated into small groups. The students enjoyed asking Lucy what it was like being a successful athlete and had the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the day during a whole school assembly, where Lucy shared her story, her inspirations and her own personal challenges with type 1 diabetes. The whole school felt inspired by the North-East born athlete and she showed us all how you can achieve your dreams if you put your mind to it, despite challenges you are faced with along the way.

Thank you everyone!
We would like to thank the organisation Great Athletes for making this opportunity possible. We are very grateful to our wonderful students and families for getting involved, this money will make a big difference and have a lasting, positive impact on all pupils at our school, making our PE facilities even stronger than before. We’re very proud of our wonderful pupils for being assets to our school – showing enthusiasm from start to finish and for working so incredibly hard to get those sponsorships.
