Thank you to everyone within our community who helped to raise an incredible £762.20 for our school! Thanks to our wonderful students for all of their hard work putting together our displays for the creative exhibition – and to the local businesses and families for their generous prize donations – we couldn’t have wished for a better turn-out.

Independent Projects

Take a look at some of the fantastic work our students did for Our Journey: Finding The Stories Behind Our Town. Some of these projects took weeks in the making and we are so proud of each child for putting their heart and souls into making sure the exhibition was a success.

Pupil Creativity…

Ranging from creative literature – short stories and poems – to building models of Alnwick Castle, Alnwick Playhouse and Barter Books… each and every piece of homework captured the wonderful imagination of each child, which was one of the primary aims of the project.

Our pupils set off out into the town to collect stories from various members of the community including, helping to raise awareness of the event on the 16th July by giving out posters with Mr Macfarlane and speaking to local businesses. Some children in Years 5 and 6 took part in an interview about life at their school, their future ambitions and what inspires them.

Whole Class Projects

During class time, our students and staff had fun creating these amazing displays, showcasing different learning journeys we’ve embarked on in school. These ranged from discovering our local heritage and history, our writing journey, the journeys of a seed and a journey through the Himalayas, including previous work that we did as a whole school taking a look back on the history of our school.

Community Contributions

Thank you to the community of Alnwick for so willingly taking part in our project! We had an overwhelmingly positive response from local businesses who donated prizes to our summer fair on the 16th July. We appreciate the time we spent with the traders at Alnwick Market, who shared with us their personal journeys, interesting tales they’ve heard about Alnwick and their favourite parts about being a part of our local community.

Ceilidh Band Performance at Alnwick Market

Our Ceilidh Band gave back to the community by performing beautifully at Alnwick Market for the traders and passers-by. The children love performing in and around Alnwick, having previously performed at Alnwick Castle, Alnwick Gardens and Lilidorei. They were praised for their talents by the organisers of Alnwick Market and to give thanks, the pupils kindly received some delicious fudge from The Canny Candy Gadgies, which as you can see below… they were delighted!
